ROBINSON, Joanne Claire - 58, Shubenacadie, has passed on peacefully from this life's journey to a new journey on the other side, in the presence of He who makes all things possible. She was the youngest child of five, born at home to Peter and the late May Ellen (Lewis) Robinson on the First Nations Territory of Indian Brook, Shubenacadie. She was the kindest, gentlest and most giving soul to all. This was reflected in her life's work as Housing and Development Officer for Rural and Native Housing Group of NS; Home and Social Counselling, Counselling Coordinator; Commissioner of Oaths for the Supreme Court of NS; Board Member for Central Nova Women's Resource Centre, Truro, NS; Volunteer Organizer for Positive Aging Project; Shubenacadie Band Council: Education Research Coordinator, Project Development Writer, Economic Development Officer; Conference Coordinator for National Association of Friendship Centres; Arts and Crafts Coordinator for Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq; Project Coordinator/Bookkeeper for Native Council of NS Library (Zone 2); Housing Development Officer and Coordinator for Mi'KmaKiK Development Corporation; Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre Facilitator for Adult Learners, Curriculum provided by Corrections Canada; Human Resources and MMNFC; CEHHA District Health Authority Project Coordinator Mental Health and Addictions Programs and Services for Indian Brook; Contract for Aboriginal Health Transition Fund; Steering Committee, Reception of Indian Brook Health Centre; Eagle's Nest Recovery House Addictions Treatment Counsellor; Bachelor of Arts Degree, UCCB, 2003-2006. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by brothers, Matthew and Russell Robinson and Ross Galloway, Rothesay- St. John, NB. She is survived by her children, Chad, Andy, Holly (Gill), and Guy (Terra); grandchildren, Kretia and Michael; sisters, Marie, Shubenacadie, Eileen Walsh, Boston, Mass; several godchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Colchester East Hants Hospital, Truro and the East Hants VON. Visitation will be held in St. Kateri Church, Indian Brook, on Monday, January 19 from 7 to 9pm. and on Tuesday, January 20 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 21 at 1pm in St. Kateri Church, Indian Brook, Fr. Tom Kurudeepan, OMI officiating. A salite will follow.
