Dear Kay, Don, Karl & Andy,
I remember Karen well from high school. She certainly loved life and embraced it to its fullest. I remember that she did cross country running in high school and pushed herself to do better.
I feel akin to Karen as I enjoy gardening and the great outdoors as well.
It certainly is funny how we drift apart after high school. I did meet Karen, Logan and Brent at least 15 years ago at Mic Mac Mall in The Bay in the furniture section. Logan was quite young. It was nice to catch up then and meet Logan
May this candle light the gardens, fields, forests and waterways that Karen has travelled and remain bright in her honour.
In Deep Felt Sympathy, Kim

It is with extreme sadness that I am writing this condolence. I worked with Karen at the VG as well as at the Halifax Infirmary and cannot think of a better role model as a person and for our profession . Karen was an excellent skilled nurse but her strength was her empathy, kindness, and bubbly personality that patients adored. She was never without that beautiful smile and positive attitude . A beautiful lady inside and out. Her loss will be felt by many. My deepest , heartfelt sympathies to Logan, Don, mother, family and friends.

My heart is heavy after just learning of Karen's passing. We trained together at the VG and we both lived on 5 West of the old nurses' residence. I remember Karen's beautiful smile and her mischievous, fun-loving spirit. She was also a devoted student nurse and was destined to be a gift to the nursing profession. Karen and I kept in touch over the years with Christmas cards and I enjoyed receiving pictures of her son, Logan. I send my sincere heartfelt condolences to Karen's family. I am so sorry for your great loss and please know that I have you in my thoughts and prayers.
With my deepest sympathy,

I was extremely saddened to hear of Karen's passing. I have such fond memories of Karen as a young girl and I remember how she and Karl, as well as her parents welcomed my family to the neighbourhood in Enfield all those years ago. It was quite interesting after loosing contact with Karen that we reconnected several years ago to find out that we both had become nurses and in fact were at the same nursing school together in the 1980s.
You have lost a very kind and compassionate lady who spoke so highly of her son whenever we touched base, hold onto the good memories and may you find solace in those memories over time.
Warmest regards

Sending my sincere condolences to Karen's loved ones. Having had worked with Karen for many years, I can honestly say how lucky both the staff & patients were to be under Karen's watch. I learned alot from Karen most especially her deep compassion for caring for one & all. Beneath her professionalism, she always had a twinkle in her eye that portrayed the 'fun' inside her. We had alot of laughs over the years for sure.
Logan, you were her pride & joy!! I heard lots of proud Mom stories over the years. I know that she will be with you each & every day, watching over you with her beautiful smile!

For dear Kay, Karl, Andy & Logan,
Everyone gets a family, but not all are so lucky to get one this wonderful & though I'm far away, my heart is with you. Sis has been an inspiration, starting when I was little and insisted my name would be so much better if it was 'Karen'. An amazing life of giving, we should all be so lucky to have someone so kind share our world, even though it has been far too brief. I send you strength & my love, and take some comfort in the thought of Sis, Granddad & Abby somewhere happy together.
