Obituary of Cora Keyes

KEYES, (MacMILLAN), Cora, age 97, Elmsdale, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2016 in her home in Elmsdale. Born on December 18, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Elsie (MacDonald) MacMillan. Cora lived a healthy and happy life, she enjoyed baking, knitting and embroidery. She was a master at the cryptoquotes in the daily newspaper. Cora loved spending time with her family. She had been an active member of St. Matthews Presbyterian Church as an elder, choir member and of the Ladies Guild. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gould and son, Perley; cherished grandchildren Amanda (Dallas) Burke and Dale; treasured great grandchildren Meagan, Alexander and Zachary; brother Russell and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Ira, sisters, Mary Lowdon, Rita Smith, Florence Diotte, Hilda Lee and brothers, Aubrey and Wilfred. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Saturday, January 9, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A funeral service will be held 4pm Sunday, January 10, at St. Matthews Presbyterian Church, Elmsdale, Rev. Beth Mattinson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Reception to follow at Riverview CE Centre, Elmsdale.
