Obituary of Raymond Henry Filek

FILEK, Raymond H., age 83 of Milford, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Sydney, Ray was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Filek. Ray was a long-standing owner of Whitney Sales Agency and a manufacturer's agent for 50 years. Until the last few years Ray continued to be active in his business. While Ray was a consummate salesman, he was a very loving "Dad" to his three boys and daughter, Carolynn. He enjoyed many good times with family and friends at both cottages. The boys know what "Put it in the Truck" means. Ray was not only respected as a businessman but was also dearly loved and will be sadly missed. He is survived by wife Paula; son, Bruce (Jennifer), Dartmouth, Robert (Donna), Halifax, daughter Carolynn (Gerry) Phaneuf, Milford; daughter-in-law, Wanda, Dartmouth. Ray is also survived by grandchildren Ben, Amy, Patrick, Stephen, Angela and Kayla, great-grandchildren René and Talia. Ray was predeceased by son Ray Jr., parents Joseph and Mary, brother Joe, sister Rosalie Liptack and former wife Vivian. Visitation will be 1 PM until time of service at 2 PM Sunday, April 10 at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Reception will follow in the hospitality area of the funeral home.
