Obituary of Russell Clinton Langille

LANGILLE, Russell Clinton of Milford Station. It is with great sadness the family of Russell Clinton Langille announces his passing on October 20, 2016 at the age of 95 after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Russell was born in Halifax on February 17, 1921 but was raised in Martins River, Lunenburg County and was a son of the late Mildred Edith (Burgoyne) and Stanley Zelotus Langille. Russell served in the Canadian Armed Forces, (West Novies) during the Second World War and served mainly in Italy and England. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch 27. Upon his return from the war, he married Jean Louise (Young) and they were married for 70 years. They lived in Halifax for several years and upon dad’s retirement, they moved to Milford Station.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Wayne (Nancy), Shubenacadie and David (Gail), Milford Station; grandchildren, Robert (Sue), Craig (Trish), Shubenacadie; Brian (Susan), Charlottetown; Rhonda (Gabe) Bourque, Oromocto; Brent (Sulgi), Montreal; great grandchildren, Amy, Braden, Owen, Peyton, Porter and one step great granddaughter, Ashley; sister, Iva Hiltz-Eldridge, Bridgewater; sister in-law Dorothy MaCarthy, Terrance, BC. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lloyd, Stewart, Bruce and Douglas along with their wives, Iva, Hope and Nellie; brother and sisters in-law Howard “Dutch” (Pearl) Young, Malcolm “Mick” (Catherine) Young; brothers in law, Melvin MaCarthy, Clyde Hiltz and Ron Eldridge; nephews, Paul and Andrew and niece Gail Langille.
At this time, we wish to give a special thanks to all the VON nurses, LPN’s and home care worker, Tammy Kent and a very special thanks to Dr. Lorraine Pelley who cared for dad in such a wonderful manner.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. As per the family’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Committal will be held at a later date.
