Obituary of Roger Matthew Martin

MARTIN, Roger Matthew, age 56- of Indian Brook, passed away suddenly on November 10, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Albert and Janet (Francis) Martin.
A welder by trade, he was employed in mining camps in western Canada in his younger days. He then worked at a metal shop in Ontario before returning to his home community of Indian Brook 5 years ago. Roger very much enjoyed his sports, football, golf and hockey being his favourites to watch. He was a big Montreal Canadiens fan.
He is survived by his sisters, Marie, Darlene, Joyce, Julie, Anita(Keith) and Rita; brothers Roddie, Greg, Gordon, Emmit(Laura), Chris and
Angus; foster brothers David (Ann) Spearing, Tim (Shirley) Lake, Henry (Paula) Lake; foster sisters Sandra Wilcox and Elaine Redden, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by foster parents Percy and Melba Lake.
Visitation will be held at 39 Meadow Road, Indian Brook beginning at 3pm Saturday, November 12. A funeral mass will be held 3pm Monday in Saint Kateri Roman Catholic Church, Indian Brook, Father Joseph Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Indian Brook. A meal will follow in the Sipekne’katik Community Centre.
