Obituary of Jan Herman Juurlink
Please share a memory of Jan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JUURLINK, Jan Herman Jr., Shubenacadie, passed away on December 5th, 2016 surrounded by his family. Herman was quite the character and was known for his stories and antics. He would want you to know that he was born in Holland and “If you ain’t Dutch, you ain’t much”. He grew up in Milford and later landed in Shubenacadie where his adventures took on a whole new level.
Herman will be missed by his children, Michelle, Tina, Angela, Mike, Jon, Nicholas, as well as their significant others, Taylor, Brent, Neil, Lexi, Yoko and Alyson as well as numerous grandchildren.
He will also be missed by his siblings, Bernhard, Trudy, Joe, Elizabeth, Charles, Mary Anne, Helena and their significant others.
Herman was a son of the late Jan Herman and Wilhelmeina (Belt) Juurlink.
Later this week, we will be celebrating a father, Opa and brother, and the path his life has taken. Herman was a farmer, entrepreneur, enthusiastic historian, gifted story teller and an empathetic listener. It was not an ordinary life. It was often vibrant and at times turbulent; he touched the lives of many.
Visitation will be held 7-9 pm Thursday, December 8 with a Celebration of Life at 2pm Friday, both in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia or Ocean View Continuing Care Centre; two institutions close to our hearts.
