Cormier, Cecil – Enfield, passed away peacefully in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on February 25, 2017. Born in Tignish, PEI on June 27, 1924, he was a son of the late John Harold and Mary Alphonsine (nee Arsenault) Cormier.
Beloved husband of the late Jackie (nee MacDonald) Cormier. He will be lovingly remembered by sister, Mary Clarice (late Joseph) Kim, Chicago, IL. Dear uncle to Jori (Nina) Kim, Isle of Lewis, UK; Sherry (Jonathan) Schedler, Chicago, IL; Randi (Mark) Singleton, Seminole, FL; Perry (Susan) of Chicago, IL and Wendi (Neil) Perry of Tignish, PEI; great niece and nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by many dear friends especially, Tim (Deborah) Sullivan of Enfield who considered him family, as well as Doreen Hashee of Dartmouth.
Cecil had a long career at G.W. Mills Ltd until 1973. At that time he purchased the property that would later become a small seasonal campground in Enfield, NS, where he formed many lifelong friendships. In 2000 he settled in Enfield permanently with his wife to enjoy the final years of his life.
Cecil was happiest keeping busy outdoors. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and sharing a laugh with friends. He was mechanically inclined and some of his most unique projects included building a three-wheeler from used car parts and fabricating his own elevator.
Cecil believed in living simply and his kind nature made him a dear friend to many. He considered himself lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful neighbours. He was a devote member of St Bernard’s Parish, Enfield, NS.
No Visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held 11am Wednesday, March 1 in Saint Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Enfield. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
