Obituary of Michael George Jordan
JORDAN, Michael George of Enfield passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Brighton, England he was the only son of Sydney and Jessie Jordan.
Mike joined the British Navy at the age of 16 and became a submariner. It was on one of his deployments in Halifax that he met nursing student Mary Isiah. Obviously smitten, the 6-week courtship lead to 62 years of marriage. Mike left the navy and immigrated to Canada where he tried his hand at everything from selling insurance to selling draperies. He finally found the career he loved as an Air Traffic Controller, which he did for 32 years.
The true love of his life was Mary and the life and family they built. Mike was proud of all his kids, Ruth, Bedford; David and Bernadette, West Dublin; Tracy, Enfield; Julie, Halifax. Mike also took great joy from his 7 grandkids, Adam and Jody Waterfield, Corey and Carson Isenor, Isaac, Mason and Rebecca Jordan; son in-law, Tom Isenor; step brother, Mike, UK, and of course, fur grand baby, Plum.
Mike and Mary spent many happy times at their camp in Cape John and with friends in the Enfield area. His dry sense of humour and wit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Funeral Mass will be held 11am Saturday, September 29 in Saint Bernard's Catholic Church Enfield, Fr. Michael Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the Enfield Legion.
