It is with great saddness that Beverley and I learned of my first-cousin Victor's passing. He was in the Airforce when I was growing up and was one of the reasons I joined the Airforce in 1969. I even took the same military trade as cousin Victor (refrigeration & mechanical technician), which I might add was a very good choice. My late mother (Edna Duggan-Sibley) use to say, join the Airforce like like your cousin Victor did.
In 1977 I planned on leaving the military to start my own refrigeration business. That same year we visited Victor and Francis at Aunt Hazel's place and when we were leaving Victor pulled out a large tool box filled with refrigeration tools, which he gave me to help me start out. Those were the tools he used in the trade. I used them many times over the years and still have that box of tools. That was such a nice gesture. On later visits Victor was always proud to show me his antique tool collection all displayed in nice glassed boxes. I was amazed the amount of old tools he had collected.
I recall in 1980 Victor and Francis drove across Canada in a station-wagon and ended up at our place in Chilliwack, BC. They visited with us and stayed at our place before heading back east. We had a nice visit. Those were good ole times!
