DENSMORE, Elroy Andrew – age 80, of Green Hill, Pictou County. It is with broken hearts that we must announce the peaceful passing, surrounded by family, of our beloved husband, brother and uncle on February 12, 2019.
Born in East Noel on February 8, 1939, he was a son of the late Percy and Rossie (Neil) Densmore.
Elroy was a dedicated employee with a 39 year career at Scott Paper Mill. He was a kind and gentle man who loved spending summers with his beloved wife, Sipkje at their cottage where they enjoyed evening card games with family and friends.
Elroy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sipkje (van der Kooi); sisters, Evelyn van Buskirk, Bible Hill; Muriel Turner, New Ross; Sylvia Shea, New Minas; Effie (Rollie) Hilchie, Noel Shore; Marilyn McLellan (Bruce White), Walton; Linda (Oege) van der Kooi, Shubenacadie; brother, Glendon (Sandra), Ottawa; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond and his wife Elaine, and Lloyd; brothers in law, Rod van Buskirk, Philson Turner, Harvey Shea, Blair McLellan; nephew, Wayne van Buskirk.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held 2-4 pm Saturday June 8, 2019 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the ICU in both the Aberdeen and VG Hospitals for the care and kindness shown and to nieces, Cindy Withrow and Donna van der Kooi; as well as sister in-law Pietje and her husband Garry Bassani for all their support and guidance this past week.
