Our sincere condolences to Rick and George and families and to all the siblings of Nina. We have many memories of Nina, how she loved the dances at Nine Mile River every Saturday night, (and she could really dance). I remember visiting her wonderful Craft Shop many times in Lantz and getting many craft tips from her. The varities were awesome and I always enjoyed my visits with her.
We know you have a lifetime of beautiful memories of your Mum and sister that you will cherish over the coming years.
I apologize for not getting to her memorial service as I so wanted to go and see Dorothy (always Dot to me) as well as Shelia and the whole family but the weather was a bit too much for my weakening legs. But please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of parting with a loved one.
With Love and Hugs to All,
Winnie and Marla Fraser

The only memories I have of my Grandmother are good ones. She was a consistent beacon of love and support throughout my childhood and into my adult life. She never allowed us to sit idly by, rather my sister and I were always busy playing games, braving the outdoors or being fed copious amounts of delicious baking. In fact my Grandmother knew what life was about. Nobody left her house with an empty belly, without getting a hug or without hearing her say “I love you.” The times I spent with my Grandmother were some of the happiest of my life; she encouraged me to read, taught me to play cards, she welcomed my friends with open arms, she offered advice, but perhaps most importantly, she taught me to love unconditionally.
I know my flaws, but when I was with my Grandmother she had a way of making me feel like I had super powers. Her encouragement was relentless, and her sense of pride in my accomplishments allowed me to feel pride in myself. Her greatest gift was that singular love and affection, and the older I get, the more I realize she passed this trait to my father. Nan’s fierce commitment to those she loved was an obvious thing, and one that inevitably made us all better people.
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye, but with great pride in which we remember. We love you, Nanny.

I remember this lovely lady from my early years. I would cross the tracks from my home and venture to her little store on a regular basis. Though I spent little money she treated me royally and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her.I remember she taught me a snowman craft and I kept those snowmen into my married years and I always treasured her kindness. I went on to teach her grandsons and found them also to be very endearing. Rick, George and famililies, you were lucky to have had her as your mom.

My mom-in-law has been part of my life since I was a mere 15 year old, when I began dating her second born. She was kind and loving through these many years, and we were kindred spirits in the arts of crafting. Some think she taught me to craft, but I started dabbling in crafts in Elementary School and when I met her I was experienced enough that we could enjoy exchanging patterns and sharing techniques.
Nina was a devoted mom to her boys, and a true hands-on Grandmother!
Aside from crafting she loved to dance and sing, and spent a lot of her time in her garden. She was Jenny to her sister Theresa, and in turn Theresa was her Punk. The dance halls will forever echo their clicking heels!
Dementia did its best to bring her down and diminish her strong will to live. Little did it know she would persevere to reach what I believe was her goal of 95 years!
Put us in your pocket Nina Belle, we will be with you forever and a day.
Much love from your daughter-in-law, Cathy

How lucky am I, that at the age of 33 I have been able to have 3 of my grandparents by my side and help shape me into the woman I am today?
Well on Feb 28th I lost one of those 3. My sweet Nanny Turner, who I endearingly called Dee-Dee for most of my childhood years.
Nanny was small but mighty. She had a big heart and loved her family endlessly; we were her whole world. Nan has taught me unconditional love, everlasting love and she is one of the biggest reasons I am the crafter I am today (between she and my mother!). Nanny dabbled in it all; from needle point, embroidery, knitting and crocheting, rug hooking to quilting; even scrapbooking! But I would have to say quilting was her passion and she made SO many quilts- and all of it by hand- no cheating for her! She always wanted me to get into it and make one myself- so nanny I vow I will make a quilt to completion (I may cheat a little with the sewing machine though. And by may... I mean I will).
Nanny always made the BEST coconut cream pies, and she’s the reason I love grapenut and orange pineapppe ice cream. She’s also the reason for my addiction to molasses- when we would visit as children my brother and I would always have bread and molasses as our treat. And she always had a jug full of kool-aid. She taught me card games like canasta and made me into the old soul I really am.
You are someone so special Nanny. Even through death, our love surpasses it all. This is one of the hardest things I’ll ever do- is say goodbye to you. But you’re a part of me, and that will never change- for you are my sunshine, my only sunshine; you make me happy when skies are grey; you’ll never know, Nan, how much I love you, even though my sunshine has gone away. ❤️

If you could only see yourself the way I always do,
You’d see the special woman I’ve admired my whole life through –
My wise and caring mother, guiding light, and special friend,
Whose love is such a blessing, whose devotion knows no end…
If you could only see yourself the way I always do,
You’d know why I’m convinced that I share heaven’s point of view –
Believing you’re among the greatest gifts the world has known,
As the truly loving mother I’ve been blessed to call my own.
