Obituary of Marjorie Theresa Shackleton

SHACKLETON (BENERE), Marjorie Theresa – age 86 of Enfield, passed away July 4, 2019 in The Magnolia, Enfield. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John and Lydia (MacDonell) Benere.

Marjorie took pride in her family and was always warm and welcoming to all who entered her home. Her favorite times were when family and friends gathered to celebrate all occasions with warmth, music and lots of love.  She had a strong spiritual faith and one of the most memorable moments was renewing her wedding vows after 50 years of marriage- which continued for another 15 years.  Marjorie and George shared a love story that will live on in the lives of their children.

She will be sadly missed by children, Danny (Doris), Greg (Barb), Tommy (Heather), Wendy (Stew) and Larry (Claudia);  11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother Eddie Benere, sisters Rita White, Theresa Ross; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her husband George; son Kenny; daughters in-law Darlene (Carroll) Shackleton, Wanda (Sharpe) Shackleton; infant daughters Janice and Marion; sisters Eileen Hirschfield, Dot Day, Marie Garden and Yvonne Clarke; brothers Willie, Bernie, Dougie, Leo and Raymond Benere

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.

Funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, July 10 in St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Enfield, Deacon Dan Bowden officiating. Reception will follow at the Elmsdale Legion, Branch 48.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at The Magnolia for the exceptional care shown to both our parents over the past 9 years.
