Obituary of Lucy Cormier
CORMIER, Mary “Lucy” – age 94, of Shubenacadie, passed away peacefully in the Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield on September 5, 2019.
Born in Bangor, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Maillet.
Lucy dedicated her life to her family. She was well known for her delicious Acadian meat pies, and her beautiful Cheticamp hooked mats. She was a life – long, dedicated parishioner of St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie, and a member of the CWL.
She is survived by her children, Lionel, Arthur (Colleen), Emile, Gerald (Armeli), Joseph “JoJo” (Karen), Robert, Victor (Ellen); grandchildren, Alana, Bradley, Shawn, Mandy, Josiah, Aimee, Rebekah, Nicole, Alexander, Kaleigh and Mary; great grandchildren, Riley, Jack and Addie; brother, Alfred; sisters, Rita and Dora; daughters-in-law, Jackie Cormier and Lisa Cormier.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; sons, Richard and Cecil; sister, Hilda; and brother, Thomas.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm, Tuesday, September 10, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A Funeral Mass will be held 11am Wednesday, September 11, in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie. A reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
The family extends a sincere thanks to the staff at the Magnolia for their wonderful care, as well as her personal care physician, Dr. David Sheehy.
