Obituary of Ethel Marie Waller
Waller, Ethel Marie – age 63, of South Maitland, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on February 21, 2020 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in South Maitland, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Dot (Laffin) Lively.
Ethel loved her family and friends. She had a kind and generous heart – always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved to bake and was well known for her bread, biscuits, pies and donuts. She was proud of her gardens and grew many vegetables and beautiful flowers. In her spare moments she liked to read and do puzzles. Each fall she made pickles and jams that were enjoyed by many. Ethel worked with McLeod’s Safety Services for 31 years. She was an animal lover.
Ethel is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Wayne; son, Doug (Cindy); her fur baby, Bud; and her “Fart ‘n Fanny”, Roxy; sister, Mae; brothers, Murray (Judy), Grant (Judy); sister in law, Alice; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Earl; sisters, Evelyn (Doug), Edith (Jamie), Joan; brother in law, Ross.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where a Celebration of Ethel’s Life will be held 2pm, Saturday, February 29, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Ethel may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The doctors and nurses at CEHHC have been wonderful to our family, providing compassionate care to Ethel and to us. We will be forever grateful.
