Obituary of Alta Beverly Scopie

SCOPIE (Sim), Alta Beverly, age 86 of Lake Fletcher, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020 in Ivy Meadows Nursing Home, Beaver Bank. 

Born in Clarksville, she was a daughter of the late Dale and Manola (Starratt) Sim.

 In her younger years, Alta enjoyed working at her father’s store in Tufts Cove.  She loved life and socializing.  Alta enjoyed singing, dancing and was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother.  She enjoyed her work as a product demonstrator at Costco and Sobeys.  She took pride in her sales of various products for Maple Leaf and Burns’ Meats.  Alta remarkably remembered the lyrics to many songs until her last days with us. She listened to her favourite country tunes and watched Turner Classic movies as a favourite pastime.  She was a supporter of children in Africa for over 20 years; she was caring and generous, always wanting to give more to help the needs of children.  A kind and loving soul, our mother and sister will be dearly missed by us all.

Alta is survived by her daughters, Lisa Dompierre and Krista Scopie; siblings, Gwen Stevens, Sandra (Epke) Zwaan, Joanne (Arnie) McClair and Deborah McKay; grandchildren, Erin and Emily Dompierre; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Alta was predeceased by her husband, Donald; brother, Brenton in infancy; sisters, Lorna Sanford, Marie Gaudet, Manola in infancy.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.  A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, August 23, 2020 in the Ettinger Funeral Home Chapel, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. 

Interment will be in West Gore Cemetery, West Gore.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Ivy Meadows for their wonderful care of  our mother during her stay there.  Also to Dr. John McNab of Fall River Family Practice.
