Obituary of Stella Marie MacDonnell
MARRYATT-MacDONNELL-Stella Marie MacNeil, age 85 of Antigonish/Enfield.
Our Mother passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2023 in the R. K MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish at the age of 85.
We will always love you with all our hearts and we will miss you dearly our darling Mother.
Born December 1st, 1937, in Halifax at the old Halifax Infirmary hospital and raised in Point Tupper, she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” David and Lida (LeBlanc) MacNeil, Port Hawkesbury.
Mom was a Homemaker, crosswalk guard and she also cleaned offices at various radio stations in Halifax. Mom loved baking, knitting, playing Bingo and could always be heard singing and seen kicking up her heels to some good old Newfoundland music.
Mom is survived by her five children; sons, Jimmy (Marilyn) Marryatt, Port Hawkesbury; Kevin (Mary) Marryatt, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; Russell (Joe Broussard) Marryatt, Pomquet; Michael (Jane Doyle) Marryatt, Whiteside; and daughter Trena (Lonnie Gosbee) Marryatt, Stellarton;11 grandchildren, Debra, Nicole, Chris, Travis, David, Laura, Sonya, Odessa, Carolyn, Emily and AJ; 10 great grandchildren; five sisters, Martina (Francis) Lamey, Port Hawkesbury; Joan (Gary) MacRae, Lexington; Yvonne MacNeil, Port Hawkesbury; Katie Boutlier, Wallaceburg, Ontario; Beatrice MacInnis, Port Hawkesbury; brother, Russell (Jean) MacNeil, Lexington; many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Herbert Marryatt; second husband, Louis MacDonnell and her partner Joe Fougere; grandsons, Steven Marryatt, Jason Marryatt and granddaughter, Laura (April) Gosbee; great-granddaughters, Angel and Mercedez in infancy, four sisters Clara MacDonald, Marie MacNeil, Mona MacLean; one in infancy; seven brothers, Johnny MacNeil, Malcolm MacNeil, Artie MacNeil; four in infancy.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday October 25, 2023 in the Elmsdale location of Ettinger Funeral Homes, at 860 Highway 2, Elmsdale.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in St. Bernard’s RC Church, Enfield, Father Gerald David officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Flowers are welcomed. Donations, if desired, may be made in memory of Stella to her family.
