We have just learned of the death of dear Verna. We remember her fondly from the Upper Rawdon United Church community. She was a person deeply devoted to her faith, her family and her community. I’m so sorry to hear about Verna. What a special lady. She was loved by so many people. My grandfather, Raymond Singer, had a special place in his heart for her and so did I. We spent many evenings eating cookies and doing a lexicon, she always made sure she had a book ready for me when she knew I was coming over. Dear Janet. Jim & families, I have fond memories of having your Mom as one of my teachers at Hants North...as well as going thru jr & sr highschool with both of you. Had some fun weekends at the farm & meeting Stormy!! I remember how impressed I was that your Mom had a "big store size" carton of ice cream in her freezer which we raided a few times. Growing up in the country meant having lots of friends to me. Also your Mom & my Mom were good friends and often visited. Verna attended most of my Moms b'days from 85+ at the Kennetcook Fire Hall & she always had a pleasant smile to greet everyone. She has been reunited with her loved ones in Heaven now. Dear Jim and Janet: What a wonderful life your mother lived! When I saw her obituary in the paper this morning, it sparked memories of the times I met her and you at your aunt's in Stewiacke about 60 (plus and minus a few!) years ago. My thoughts are with you as you deal with the end of an era that her death represents to you and your families. No matter a mother's age, the loss of her in one's life is no less felt. Hi Jim. We’re sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She lived a full life. Laura of course knows your family well. I remember your farm being halfway through the hills when traveling from the valley to Truro or Moncton. I remember the night your mom invited us to stay at your house because our flight back to Montreal had been cancelled. mrs weatherhead for she will never be verna to me was such a sweet lady-- i remember her as my teacher i believe in grade 7 -teaching me french and coming into class very well dressed like coming out of a magazine and one thing i remember thinking was how could she walk in those high heels -all day --and she was so very tiny -- but order and kindness seemed to go handed in hand in her class room - may your memories of mrs weatherhead keep you safe and close to her always
