Obituary of Gordon Joseph Peters
Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peters, Gordon Joseph - 79, of Elmsdale, passed away July 21, 2017 in the QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in L’Ardoise, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Margaret (Briand) Peters.
Gordon was fun loving, and often entertained friends and family by telling countless silly stories and jokes, playing his guitar or performing card tricks. He was passionate about family and was happiest when spending time with (and often teasing) his 4 grandchildren, whom he was extremely proud of. He loved to be outside building or fixing cars and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Passionate about sports, he played both hockey and baseball in his younger years. Gordon spent time coaching Little League baseball in Truro and in his later years could often be found at the East Hants ball field or hockey rink cheering for the home team as loud as he could. A lifelong supporter of Montreal sports teams, he never missed an opportunity to root for the Canadiens, Expos or Alouettes.
He is survived by the love of his life for 55 years Fay (Boyle); daughter, Lynn Caiger (Tony) of Georgetown, ON; son and best friend, Andy (Jayne) of Lantz and 4 grandchildren, Sarah, who shares his love of business and retail; card playing partner Emma; fishing buddy Nathan and dancing partner Jessica.
He is survived by his brother, Herman of Montreal and is predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Raymond and his sisters, Gertrude, Edna, and Murial.
A private family service will take place on Wednesday, July 26 at 2:00 in Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie. Interment will take place at Milford Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life and to share memories at the home of Andy and Jayne, 1217 Highway #2, Lantz at 5:00pm following the family service.
