I spent many hours in the bluegrass field in Rollo Bay, PEI marking the field with Bob, he was a gentle caring man who always had a joke or a silly remark for me. I am sure he will be missed by all who loved & knew him. He was a good man & a good friend.

Bob was a very talented and energetic guy. He could have made a living at anything he set his mind to. All the more tragic and unfair that he was taken away so soon.
It was a privilege to have known and worked with Bob, and I'm very sorry for your loss.

Dear Sharples family,
I was saddened to hear that Bob had passed away. Bob was easy to get along with and always had a smile on his face. He liked to others smile as well.
I enjoyed helping Bob with his supper. He loved his food. He loved listening to the music we had at The Mira. I wish I had, had the pleasure to hear him play that great big bass guitar.
Bob will definitely be missed by all of us at The Mira. I wish I had the opportunity to know the man he was before his illness.
Sincerely,
Cindy

Bob was a real friend to everyone...so many people are sharing your pain....music was a big part of his life, faith was a bigger part of his life.
Playing music with him was a real treat....we traveled many miles, had lots of laughs, and sang a million tunes.
I will always hold on to these memories, as you hold close those memories all of you have had with him.
God Bless Each of You through this time of sorrow

My memories of Bob go back many years. His love of music and doing for others in time of need, with music and his MCing abilities. His dry sense of humor was what made me smile whenever I would see him, even if it was a serious conversation, he made me smile.
Bob was a very smart man who liked to tell stories of his work in the cold north and the history of how the white man affected the people of the North. I was in awe by what he had to say and his love of history.
I hope all the wonderful memories that you share take you through this difficult time and bring you to a place of peace and comfort.
Thinking of you
With deepest sympathy

Anne and family; our memories of Bob and his family while in Churchill Falls are many and varied, I remember returning to Churchill after getting my flying licence and Bob setting me straight on the rules and regulations needed, of Bob getting of work late at night and joining us for music, I can still hear him reciting the cremation of Sam McGee in its entirety. Truly a marvellous person. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless

My 'inclusion' into your family the last few years...is what I call,my 'circle of life.' I met Bob at the Alton Rec Center, when I played with a bunch of local musicians who formed The Altonators.Morris Clark,Everett Toole,Aubrey Miller,Reeves Clark,Remona MacDonald,Wilfred Boutilier,Al Lawrence, myself, and Bob...every now and then.I remember thinking...that big bass he played, made our music...just that much more sweeter.Who knew, years later...I would become friends with Anne, then Krista, and even Joey would become a 'volunteer brother ' during a painful estrangement with my own .I don't know if he will ever know, how much I needed that then. And he and Kim would be instrumental in getting me the home my kids and I now reside in.Bob and I shared the love for music, gab and family.I feel blessed,to have been included, and playfully called 'daughter' by him.For truly,it takes a very special man.,to include another, into his 'circle...' just because. He was funny, respectable,My 'father by proxy'...and I am honoured for having known him...and loved him.~Theresa Rafuse~ xoxo

Dear Anne & Family,
Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Bob. We met Bob through our work with Environment Canada. He was a great guy and always upbeat. We had a few occasions to enjoy his bluegrass music - a true passion of his. He was a great storyteller - many of which we enjoyed hearing. Graves Island picnic was an enjoyable time and Bob would always provide his bluegrass talent with others.
May he rest in Peace!

Dear Anne and family:
You are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. Although Bob and I grew up within 20 miles of each other, I first met Bob in the late 60's at Goose Weather Office in Labrador. In later times, we traveled together to and from work in Bedford for many years.
He was a most enjoyable person; extremely intelligent; had an astonishing memory; and would tackle any problem no matter how big or small - he would always go to Plan B if Plan A didn't work. We will miss him.

In the good old days Bob was the weatherman at the Churchill Falls Airport in Labrador. He provided us a great service, as in the 70's CF depended on EPA and the CFLCo plane to get us in and out of town. We will always remember his cheery outlook even through the difficult times we had with our aircraft. when I was in the Yukon a year or two ago I remembered how he could recite Robert Service's poems, particularly the one about Dan McGrew. Rest in Peace Bob.

It's so sad to hear of Bob's passing. An old friend has gone. So many memories of working together and playing music together come flooding back. It was just about 50 years ago that we boarded a DOT DC3 to go to Churchill Falls to set up a weather station during the construction of the power development. In those 50 years there are so many memories of work, golf in the Bob-O-Links bus, music at many Bluegrass Festivals, gatherings at the "Old Farts" reunions and a friendship that has been so special. Bob will really be missed.
